What's In a Name?

There is a theory among some that names exercise a peculiar influence over the person so named. It is something more than simply, "You look like a so-and-so." If properly named by perceptive parents your name suits you as you begin to suit the name. By way of example, I am the only one with a Celtic name in my family and I am likewise the only one in my family with an interest in the Celtic culture. Meghan a pet name of Margaret means "pearl" i.e. something of great value due to the difficulties one must endure to acquire it. My middle name, Leigh, is an Old English name meaning "meadow." (Pearl in the meadow?)

I have named my young little lappy, Pandora due to her seductively mysterious innocence. This observation of her conflicting characteristics was apparently downright prophetic. I've been having issues with her being sluggish so I have been spending the last hour or so defragging and downloading more protective software. And what do I find in Pandora's Box but a plethora of tracking cookies and further suspicious looking technical barnacles. It's her damn curiosity . I should keep a close eye on her, I suppose.

I hear Shannon means "one who is pimptastic"... yep, that's it. Don't bother looking it up.

well, Monica means Courage, so i think that disproves your theory, for i don't think i'm *that* courageous. *sigh*...

I did look up "Shannon" and it more accurately means "one who will womp your ass if you do not acknowledge coolness."

And apparently while "Monica" means courage, the nickname "Mona" means "feisty when cornered" which anyone who's cornered you knows to be true.
